About Me

After serving in the United States Army, I earned my bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and minor in Psychology from Moorhead State University and began what became a 25-year career in community corrections. During this time, I had the opportunity to serve in a variety of roles---as a probation officer, project manager, probation department director and trainer of several topics.
In 2023, I made the decision to transition into a full-time role as a consultant and trainer. One of the highlights of my career was serving as a Regional Training Coordinator for the National Institute of Corrections for five years. I had the opportunity to be a part of the International Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers(MINT) Train-the-Trainer event back in 2010. Since 2014, I've also been working with The Montana Institute, where I focus on curriculum development and training.
Community work has always been important to me. I spent several years as an active member of two school-based substance use Prevention Coalitions, current active President on our Youth For Christ board, serve on the Itasca County Veterans Crisis Response Team, where I support veterans experiencing mental health crises.
Outside of work, I'm an avid outdoorsman and storyteller. I enjoy singing in my church choir and even dabble in theater-much like my professional life it is all about performing, creativity and connecting with others. I've been married to my lovely wife for 30 wonderful years and together we are the proud parents of two young men who continue to inspire us every day.
